Strong magnets that actually do what they say. I have 1/2″ glass. Often, a company will claim that they're rack is suited for glass up to 1/2″. In reality, the rack will tip, tilt, or fall at the slightest disturbance. NOT these though. Very pleased with the overall design and quality. If you've got the means to buy these, I suggest that you do. Otherwise, price may be prohibitive.

First off, you really need an ATO (auto top off) to run this, or any overflow based filter for that matter. This one in particular because the overflow box is relatively small.

I tried to use this with only the upper section of the intake tube for the AC70 (the u-shaped tube) and it pulled too much air because it wasn't deep enough in the overflow box. I took the extension tube and cut it so it was about 1” above the bottom of the overflow box and now I can run the filter on the highest GPH.

It's a little tricky getting the ATO sensor in the box with the filter tube and at the right height, but once you do it works really well. Once the ATO sensor is adjusted you won't get any more air bubbles or gurgling. It's pretty much silent. Setup was easy thanks to the magnetic mounts, I really like this as a surface skimming solution for my cheapo Aqueon 29g.
